The pump is an end suction centrifugal pump with a fully automatic priming system built into the design. This enables the pump to self-prime from completely dry conditions, even with extended suction lines. Liquid is not required to prime the pump, and therefore, in temporary dry trench conditions, the pump will “snore” until such time as liquid is available.
The priming system utilizes a standard air compressor, which feeds a pneumatic ejector mounted above the air/water separation tank. With this device, suction lifts up to 28ft. (8.5m) can be achieved.
The pump can handle raw unscreened sewage, trade effluents, thick slurries and solids up to a normal limitation of 1.5” (38mm) diameter.
The impeller is of a fully open design with balance holes and back pump out vanes. Impeller designs include a three vane design for pumping under most conditions, a two vane design for stringy material handling, a five vane design for higher efficiencies, and a recessed design for pumping sludges. The impeller is mounted on a 431 stainless steel shaft fitted to a cast iron bearing bracket; which also provides concentric location for the pump volute.
The pump volute is constructed of Ductile Iron fitted with replaceable 316 stainless steel wearing plates.
The mechanical seal is leak tight and suitable for sewage and sludge. The seal uses a silicon carbide rotating face mounted to a silicon carbide stationary seat with Buna -N (nitrile) seal elastomers. The arrangement incorporates an oil-filled seal housing to lubricate the seal faces.
Material options include: Ductile Iron bearing frame with a Ductile Iron pump casing and fitted with 316 stainless steel or 2% chromium steel alloy (340 BHN) impeller and wearplates; complete 316 stainless steel wet ends; complete CD4MCu wet ends; or complete high chromium alloy (500 BHN) wet ends.
Guards are fitted as standard to all moving parts
