Micro Irrigation System Included The Installation Of PVC Pipe, Fittings, Risers, Polyethylene Tubing And Rain Bird Micro-Quick Jets For Farm Outside Scottsdale, AZ
The Chandler, Arizona Rain for Rent branch installed a 1085-acre micro
irrigation system in the desert just outside of Scottsdale, Arizona.
The project was installed on an Indian farm. The crops to be irrigated included 320 acres of citrus on a 20x22 ft spacing, and 769 acres of pecans on a 30x30 ft spacing.
The bid also required the presence of a full-time site engineer during all phases of installation and testing. A member of Bakersfield's engineering group readily volunteered to take on the project and has served not only as engineer, but as foreman to coordinate the installation phase.
Over 335 miles of polyethelene laterals were slip-plowed under the soil to a depth of approximately 12 inches. Tube was shanked in using a plow, pulled by a tractor. Trenching was carried out by the use of three wheel trenchers and one excavator. Some "bedding" of PVC pipe with sand has been required in trenches through rocky spoils. During the various phases of completion, Rain for Rent added a four-tank portable water media filter with a 1200 GPM booster pump on site to provide water for flushing and pressure testing lines. | |||||
