Solvent Spill Contained During Emergency, Filtration System Deals with Contaminated WaterRain for Rent greeted with police escortWhile in Bakersfield, CA, one of our Baton Rouge Sales staff received a call from the Environmental Unit Manager at a major Chemical Plant asking “how fast he could get to the plant?” He had an emergency and needed help immediately! After a phone call to his office, another staff member was dispatched, who responded to the call so fast that it really impressed the customer! Upon arrival, led by a police escort to the site, plant personnel were up in arms, a major solvent spill that was contained in a sump area was about to overflow because of heavy rains. Taking charge, 3 frac tanks, a DV-100, hoses and Spillguards were ordered. Excellent branch support hooked up the system and began pumping the contaminated water off the bottom of the sump into the frac tanks, while plant personnel recovered solvents off the top of the sump. With the emergency situation under control, a plan was developed to treat the contaminated water. The following week, Rain for Rent Baton Rouge set up a filtration system utilizing 4 additional tanks, 1-3" diaphragm pump, a BF-400, and 2 carbon units and began filtering the contaminated water. The water was filtered, tested and discharged … exceeding the customer’s expectations.
