California Gas Company’s Hydrotest Timeline Met Ahead of Schedule

BACKGROUND

As part of a comprehensive safety maintenance system, a California gas company planned to hydrotest various gas delivery pipelines. Because the pipeline locations were located in very environmentally sensitive areas, the gas company needed a capable liquids handling provider who could capture, recirculate, and hydrotest the pipelines until all safety requirements were met.

OUTCOME

The gas company chose Rain for Rent to provide a complete liquids handling solution for the gas pipeline hydrotest. Rain for Rent was initially chosen for a single test, and our performance prompted the gas company to reserve the equipment for the future tests. This advanced the gas company’s timeline more quickly and extended Rain for Rent’s presence on the job.

HIGHLIGHTS

  • 27 steel tanks were used, each with Spillguards, to capture, recirculate and reuse the hydrotest water according to the project plans.
  • All water was carefully tested and met strict environmental requirements by the local sanitary district prior to discharging into their treatment.
  • Any mistakes would damage the reputations of all companies involved – thanks to careful teamwork and an effective plan there were no mistakes, no spills, and zero safety incidents on the job.

CUSTOMER FEEDBACK

Other contractors on site, as well as inspectors from various county and state regulatory agencies commented that it was one of the cleanest, safest, and nicest looking hydrotest sites they had seen from this gas company to date. The gas company plans to use Rain for Rent for future hydrotest and temporary liquid handling needs.
