Coal Plant Modernizes with Turnaround

A coal power plant in the Midwestern U.S. began the largest boiler cleaning turnaround effort in the operating company’s history with the help of Rain for Rent.

The coal-fire plant generates 14 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity a year. It required tanks to hold and later filter produced water from the cleaning process.

Additionally, the operator was making modifications to reduce nitrogen oxide emissions and sulfur dioxide emissions to modernize the plant.

85 Rain for Rent tanks were used on site, including 15 Stainless Steel Frac Tanks and 70 Carbon Steel Frac Tanks. The tanks were manifolded together with stainless steel hose and captured produced water for treatment over a 4 month period.
